Traffic Control Safety & Flagging

Prerequisites: None
Competencies:
The “Flagging” class is basic requirement for working in the right of way. Both the Cal Trans and Watch manual are covered in details. The course is designed as a minimum requirement for addressing taper lengths and advanced warning for heavy and highway work. Course covers Cal OSHA requirements for flagging.

Advanced Traffic Control G2

Credit Hours: 16
Prerequisites: Safety/Flagging
Competencies:
Municipal lane closures policy and procedures is the focus of this course. Plan reading for T.C., trailering and towing, practical application of set up and take down are covered.

CPR/FIRST AID

Credit Hours: 8
Prerequisites: None
Competencies:
The American Red Cross standard First Aid Course. This course covers responding to an emergency rescue breathing and CPR. The first aid section addresses control bleeding, wounds , burns, and immobilizing broken bones. Sudden illnesses such as diabetic emergencies and seizures are covered as well.

Forklift Safety

Credit Hours: 8
Prerequisites: None
Competencies:
State and Federal OSHA standards are covered as well as safe driving techniques. This course is hands-on. Participants will be directed and coached though obstacles. Driving, picking, and placing loads are practiced.

OSHA 10

Credit Hours: 12
Prerequisites: None
Competencies:
This OSHA 10 class is a DOL Certification Class, That covers topics such as OSHA inspection processes, hand and power tools safety, PPE, electrical safety, and other construction related topics.

Scaffold User

Credit Hours: 8
Prerequisites: None
Competencies:
Complies with OSHA standards for employees who work on scaffolds. This course covers loading, working on and under, and the occupational hazards associated with scaffolds.

Scaffold Builder

Credit Hours: 8
Prerequisites: Scaffold User
Competencies:
Complies with fed and state OSHA standards for employees who erect and dismantle scaffolding, supported scaffold, rolling tower, and access systems are covered as well other construction related systems.

Process Safety Management

Credit Hours: 8
Prerequisites: None
Competencies:
This course is specifically for participants who work in refineries or other covered process facilities, such as petro-chemical. This course provides information on hazards on the jobsite as well as safety and health training. Topics covered include: OSHA related PSM topics.

Pipeliner Course

Competencies:
This course provides participants with information regarding safe practices and procedures during pipeline construction. Topics covered include: set up, right of way, ditch and grading, stringing skids, fencing, and pipe coating.

OSHA 30

Traffic Control Safety & Flagging

Competencies:
This comprehensive couse covers all the necessary areas for safe asbestos abatement. Topics include: the history of asbestos and its uses, health effects, OSHA standards, medical monitoring and surveillance, the legal rights of workers, asbestos abatement regulations, and all types of PPE. Students practice donning and doffing PPE, site safety, using negative pressure air systems, setting up a Decontamination Unit, and all asbestos abatement techniques. MSDS, Hazard Communication Standard, and Air Monitoring are also covered. The focus is on performing safely, effectively and efficiently on an asbestos abatement jobsite.

Hazardous Waste Worker

Competencies:
Practical application of work skills and PPE used in hazardous waste abatement work. This includes respirator fit testing & maintenance, the application and use of air purifying respirators and air supplied respirators, practical field tasks such as air sampling and monitoring, soil sampling, drum recovery/repair and confined space entry.

Confined Space Entry

Competencies:
The permit-required confined space course introduces trainees to characteristics of confined spaces and more specifically, permit required confined spaces, methods of protecting themselves from the hazards associated with confined space operations. OSHA confined space entry standard 29 CFR 1910.146 is included.

Confined Space Awareness

Competencies:
This course prepares participants to work safely in confined spaces where they can expect to encounter dangerous hazards. Topics covered include: Hazardous atmospheres, pre-entry testing, physical hazards, controlling hazards. the Confined Space Entry Team and the Rescue Team. This is a condensed version of the 32-hour Permit Required confined space Entry and is intended as an awareness course.

Lead Abatement Worker

Competencies:
This course provides an overview of the California Department of Health Services requirements and Safety procedures as they relate to the containment and removal of lead-based paint. It covers safe work procedures, State and federal regulations, sampling methods, PPE, abatement methods, HAZ Com standards, and waste disposal.

Asbestos Awareness

This course focuses on the recognition of asbestos and the hazards of asbestos on the jobsite. Correct asbestos abatement methods are introduced. Topics covered include: General asbestos information, the history of asbestos and its uses, health effects, abatement regulations, and PPE requirements.

 

Respiratory Awareness

Credit Hours: 8
Prerequisites: None
Competencies:
This Respiratory Protection course instructs students in the proper use of respirators when there may be hazardous materials or substances present on the jobsite. Participants learn about airborne contaminants, hazardous atmospheres, routes of entry and warning signs of exposure. Air purifying respirators, filtering devices and atmosphere supplying respirators are covered. Participants are instructed on the proper use, standard operating procedures, maintenance and care of respirators
